This African-American family traces back to Aaron, born in Virginia ca 1830. This family is one of the very few where the patriarch, Aaron, can be traced back before the Civil War. Aaron and his wife, America, were born in Virginia, but must have been taken to Graves Co., Kentucky. There, they started a family before the war, and the family continued to grow during and after the war. Today, many descendants still live in and around Mayfield in Graves county. However, known records are incomplete and the early years of this family are poorly documented.

Buck Parrott, resident of 419 South 14th Street, died Monday evening at 6:45 at his home.

He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church where he was on the Board of Deacons. He was an employe of the W.B. Kennedy Tobacco Company for about 30 years.

Survivors include eight children, Mrs. Jessie Jones, Mrs. Charlie Morris, Mrs. Curtis Kelley, Clauzell Parrott, Mizell Parrott, Bobby Parrott, Tommy Parrott, and Martha Ann Parrott.

Mr. Parrott is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Katie Mae Parrott; 12 grandchildren; one aunt, Mrs. B. Todd; one niece, Mrs. Herbert Dowdy; several nephews and other relatives and friends.

Joe Parrott, South Fourteenth street, negro, is in serious condition from knife wouns sustained Saturday night and "Gray Bob" Sherrill, another Mayfield Negro, is being held in jail for slashing Parrott. The negro has three wounds, one a deep gash from his neck to his abdomen. He was also slashed on the cheek and stabbed in the side. Because of the condition of Parrott, the trial of Sherrill on a charge of malicious cutting with intent to kill was continued in Mayfield police court this morning until Friday.

He was an employee of Lykins Concrete and a former employee of Lucky Strike Salvage and Purchase Salvage.

General Notes: Laura Ann Parrott went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 8:20 p.m. She made her transition from the Green Acres Health Care Center in Mayfield, KY. at the blessed age of 60 years, 4 months and 21 days. Laura was born on July 21, 1964, in Mayfield. Her parents were the late Robert Owens and Linda Lucille Kelly House.

Laura attended the West Lee Street Church of Christ in Mayfield. She was a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School and was employed as a clerk at the Dollar General Store.

Laura was a very loveable person and was a dear friend to all of whom she made contact. Her nature led her to be a mother to all and would help anybody in any situation. To sum it all up, Laura was an all-around wonderful person. Laura found great joy and pleasure taking care of her dogs and working with her plants, keeping them lovely in her sight.
